Description

When attempting to upload an attachment into an Attachment field in any application, the attachment upload fails with the following message:
(upload failed) - Attachment file name

Cause

This might occur due to that ASP.NET Impersonation is enabled under the Authentication for the website were Archer is installed in IIS.

Note: No errors or messages related to this specific cause are found in the Archer logs or Event Viewer.

Resolution

Disable ASP.NET Impersonation for the website were Archer is installed by following the steps below:
  1. Open IIS.
  2. In the left pane, go to the website where Archer is installed (depending on your setup) and click on it.
  3. Then in the middle pane, double-click on Authentication.
  4. It should be observed that ASP.NET Impersonation is enabled, as shown in the screenshot above.
  5. If it is enabled, click on ASP.NET Impersonation and then click on Disable from the right pane (another authentication method should be enabled which depends on the type of authentication you have setup).
  6. Following this, users should be able to upload attachments into Attachment fields successfully.
Note: The above checks and steps should be followed and performed on all Web Servers.
