Custom Object for Concatenating Text from Cross Referenced App Records

Looking to see if anyone has created a custom object for this requirement or if anyone can provide me with some guidance on where to get started.

@LiaKonieczny1  Could you provide a bit more detail?  Are you concatenating multiple fields from a single record; the same field from multiple records or a combination? That will help to determine what options you have available (data feed, Custom Object, calculation).

The same text field from multiple records in an xref field. It cannot be done via calculation at this time (there are a few requested enhancements related to this functionality) so this can only be done with a custom XSLT df, API call, or custom object.

@LiaKonieczny1 does the cross-reference field get updated by another process besides the user or does the related records field in the child application get modified by users in that child application?
